Silver Buffaloberry

Silver Buffaloberry (Shepherdia argentea) is a native fruiting shrub with bright citrus flavoured berries. The thorny branches carry fruit that comes off more readily than Sea Buckthorn, and at Oak Summit Nursery we pick it without cutting the branches.

These seedlings came from a yellow fruiting parent. Seedlings have mixed genetics and may produce red or yellow fruit. Plants are either male or female, so several are needed for reliable fruit production.

Silver Buffaloberry fixes nitrogen, tolerates poor soil, forms a dense bush, and spreads through rhizomes.
