Mountain Maple

Mountain maple (Acer spicatum) is a small native maple of eastern Canada's woodland understory. Its bushy, multi stemmed growth carries three lobed leaves, upright clusters of greenish yellow flowers and paired winged seeds. Autumn foliage can turn yellow, orange or vivid red.

Its preference for cool, moist woodland conditions distinguishes it from maples suited to hot, exposed urban sites.
