Buckwheat Seeds

Buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum) is a fast growing crop raised for edible seed, pollinator flowers, and short season cover. Despite its name, it is related to rhubarb and sorrel rather than wheat. It has a long history of cultivation in Asia, and its seed can be milled into gluten free flour.

Plants grow 2 to 4 ft (60 to 120 cm) tall, with red stems and white to pink flowers. The crop matures in about 10 to 12 weeks, establishes quickly, and can suppress summer weeds.
