Title4" Pot (Mustang Rootstock)

Count Althann’s Gage is a nineteenth-century European gage with dusky pink to red fruit, juicy flesh and a rich, sweet flavour. It was raised in Bohemia by Prochaska, gardener to Count Althann, between about 1850 and 1860, and reached England before 1867. It belongs to the Green Gage or Reine Claude group, though a precise pedigree is not established.

The fruit is mainly valued for fresh eating and is a short keeper. It is not self fertile and needs a compatible European plum flowering at the same time. Published references place it in flowering group 4; Manitoba harvest timing is still being observed.

Our fall trees are grafted on Mustang rootstock.

Cold Hardiness Zone: 4

Botanical name: Prunus domestica
