Ben Lomond Black Currant

Ben Lomond was the first cultivar in the Ben series, released by the Scottish Crop Research Institute in 1972. It was selected for frost resistance, high yield, and compact growth.

The large black berries have a robust flavour and ripen in the middle to late part of the season. They are used fresh and for jams, jellies, and desserts. The flowers have useful resistance to late spring frost.
